Calf Portrait

This is a calf painting that I had more time than one hour to paint. I was focusing on painting the white face with the blue shadows to form the look of the fuzzy face.
This acrylic painting measures 11"x14" and is $200.

Calf on the Rail

This is a painting I did for practice for the Quick Draw one hour painting
at the Phippen Western Art Show in Prescott, May 2016
This one took two hours to paint. I finally got it down to one hour
for the show and that one auctioned off for $300. It was a fun challenge.
This painting measures 11"x14"

New Calf

Another life has entered the world. I tried to capture the expression of new life in the eye and position of the head.
This is a smaller piece measuring 8"x10" and I found a great frame for it that finishes it perfectly.

Sunflower at Night

What do sunflowers do at night?
They rest of course!
All day they follow the sun so it goes to show that they need rest as we all do.

Bee Import

Bees and flowers are  fun composition.
I enjoy getting up close and spending time watching bees doing their business.
I certainly will be doing more of these fun paintings with this delightful subject.

Hummer and Hibiscus

Hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers to enjoy visually.
Humming birds are definitely one of my favorite birds to watch.
I have a feeder for these incredible birds out my back door and can observe
them from my kitchen window.   I am learning about what flowers to plant to attract humming birds.

Roadrunner at Tumacacori

Acrylic 16"x20" This February I was privileged to participate as an artist in the 57th Annual Tubac Art Festival. It was a five day event running from February 10th to the 14th. Before I departed for Tubac, I painted this roadrunner along with the historical mission of Tumacacori in the background. I enjoyed studying about the history of the Church of Tumacacori (as well as learning how to pronounce it!) Painting the mission was fun and makes me think that I would enjoy painting the other beautiful historic missions and churches that dot Southern Arizona. I am thinking of painting the San Xavier Mission near Tucson for my up-coming show, Tucson's 4th Ave. Street Fair and Art Show, April 1st through the 3rd.
